I Bike Tuscany

This is the ride for the tough ones who "have legs" and feel it's about time to show it! Part of the ride takes place along the route of the World Road Bike Chanpionship 2013.

A challenging climb on scenic and quiet back roads from just outside Florence to the ancient monastery of Monte Senario, standing on a hilltop at 3280 feet.

The visit to the monastery will take you back to the middle ages. Of course the 360° view over the valley is breathtaking!

Advanced skill level: Suitable for those who bike regularly and are comfortable cycling a hilly terrain with some longer and more challenging climbs.

ITINERARY

From your hotel (or nearby) in Florence you'll be shuttled to I Bike Tuscany's bike shop for bike fitting. The ride will begin right there. In a short time you'll be out of town, biking along a road with breathtaking views over Florence. You’ll reach Fiesole, the ancient village on the hills surrounding Florence, famous for its Etruscan and Roman ruins. From there, uphill, you will continue on a wonderful quiet country road to the Monastery of Monte Senario. The view from up there is breathtaking. In the distance are the Appennini mountains that, starting from north west and ending south of the country, represent the backbone of Italy. Take your time for a visit and a taste of typical products from the monastery. Afterwards we will make our way back to Florence cycling along scenic country roads, passing by beautiful historical Florentine villas.
